The Children's Book of Virtues

When my children were elementary school age, I used this book to augment my teaching about virtuous living. I have not looked at it for a number of years, but remember it as being a wonderful resource. It is readable and not preachy. The Book of Stones: Who They Are & What They Teach

The Discipline Book: How to Have a Better-Behaved Child From Birth to Age Ten

This book was just a little disappointing in that it didn't have alot of concrete advice, just kind of general ideas that I already had in mind for parenting. I still would recommend it though because I really like Dr. Sears and think that what is in the book is pretty good, it just wasn't exactly what I was looking for. If you are new to the idea of AP parenting then this is a good one for you, or just struggling with what to do, it might be a good reminder. Great classic book, BUT beware. This is a MINI. The book is small. Not the typical size. I mean...SMALL! Very SMALL. Buy There's a Wocket in My Pocket! (Dr. Seuss's Book of Ridiculous Rhymes)!

Baby's Book: The First Five Years (Personal Organizers)

I bought two baby books hoping one would be the one I wanted--and this was it.

Pros?

The contemporary look.
The tabs on the top of the book (see uploaded photos).
The spiral binder.
The pockets (one on each tab).
The colors (muted gray, blue, pink, and yellow).
The cellophane envelope for a lock of hair.

Cons?

It would be nice if the pockets had closures--you can really only put paper or very flat items in it--or if there was a zippered pocket were you could put larger non-flat items.

The elastic place-holder band is a neat idea but is pretty useless in practice (at least for me). Buy Baby's Book: The First Five Years (Personal Organizers)!

The Kitchen Linens Book: Using, Sharing, and Cherishing the Fabrics of Our Daily Lives

Ellynanne does it again! The Kitchen Linen book covers everything from towels to trivets to pot holders to wonderful dining linens. I was especially glad to see that there was a lot of detail about the types of cloth used and where they come from. This book is loaded with wonderful stories, tips, recipes, wonderful pictures and even a little surprise for you in the back!

It reminds me of my grandmothers and all the linens they used when I was growing up. Even now my grandmother and I sit down and spend more time together reminiscing about each and every item in The Kitchen Linens Book and The Apron Book. My grandmother loved the book as well and it prompted her to share even more stories with me about her childhood, and she also gave me a bonnet her mother use to wear! It's something I will remember forever, my grandmother getting so excited to share her stories and collection with me and it was all over us sitting together going through this and the apron book.

This book is such a treasure and I can't wait to see what EllynAnne does next!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3)

This is one of my favourite books by JK Rowling out of all of the other six.I have read all of them starting from Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone when I was six.I am now seven and has completed all of them except The adventures of Beedle and Bard.The whole book is great although I was a bit afraid of Aragog.I think Hagrid is my favourite charecter in this book as well as Sirius Black and and of course Harry.I read this book alone without any help with words.It was a bit creepy when Harry and Ron entered the Forbiden Forest and when they where following the spiders that lead to Aragog,his wife,his children and his gang. The only bit I did'nt like was Sirius Black turning into a dog as well as his living friends turning into animals...e.g Peter Pettigrew turning into Scabbers and Lupin turning into a were wolf.And Harry seeing his dead father in the moonlight as a Stag.Buy Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3)!
