The Abundance Book

Let me just say up front, I have read every John Randolph Price book. I have given this one three stars for two reasons. One, I was left wanting more. And, two, it's not his best book.

As always, John Randolph Price delivers another great plan on how attract the one thing we all want more of. Personally, I like books that give me a plan to follow for a duration of time. (One of current favorites is 10-Day Money Makeover - Simple Steps to Create More Money and Financial Prosperity Using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).)

I liked the combination of religious thought, new age thought and common sense coming together to help bring me to a new understanding of how to approach abundance. I think we often just think of money as being about numbers...money coming in and money going out. But it is about so much more. The best thing about this book is how it made me appreciate that it is about so much more and how money is my connection to Spirit. It's not just something to be chased during our lifetime.Buy The Abundance Book!

The Book of Jubilees; The Little Genesis, The Apocalypse of Moses

The book of Jubilees is a "must read" for all serious students of the Bible. While Jubilees is not considered a part of the Old Testament Canon by our generation, it is in fact of great historical import. The book of Jubilees is of no less import than our books on archeology, land maps, Hebrew and Greek syntax, grammer, and other such works we read to help us garner insight into the history, content, and understanding of the Holy Word of God. It is my belief that the book of Jubilees and the book of Enoch are two of the most important non-canon books available for Christians to read and study. I would add that both of these books are referenced in the Holy Bible to bear witness to the God inspired writings of the Old Testament. Jubilees is hard to put down, cover to cover a very easy, informative, and interesting read. Congratulations on a brilliant job translating and editing this very important work.Buy The Book of Jubilees; The Little Genesis, The Apocalypse of Moses!

While I Was Gone (Oprah's Book Club)

While I Was Gone is the poignant tale of a woman who tries to keep her family life from imploding, as she battles against the vestiges of her past. The author crafts a compelling narrative, demonstrating how superficial calm and solemnity can belie a deep internal restlessness that can have far reaching consequences. Miller presents the story from the perspective of Jo, a happily married working wife with three grown up daughters, a loving husband, and three dogs for company -elements that serve establish her family as being normal, successful, and serene in the eyes of society. However, the reader discovers that Jo has a complex past, and while she may appear to have emerged stronger from her experiences, certain scars do not fade quite so easily, and the past, like the tides, always tends to catch up with one eventually.

While the story as a whole is enjoyable, it ought to be noted that the plot tends to lag at certain places, and Jo as a character can be unpalatable and perhaps even downright vapid at times. Nevertheless, the novel itself is a mostly satisfying read if for nothing else but because of how skillfully Miller weaves together themes of family, identity, loyalty, and love, among others, and because of how well she develops the main characters, forming fully realized people who are very much believable.

In essence, the strength of Miller's writing stems from her acute awareness of human nature, and the power of her literary word through which she creates characters and situations that are both conceivable and affecting. Hence, While I was Gone is a book that makes for an sufficiently interesting read.Buy While I Was Gone (Oprah's Book Club)!
