The Abundance Book

Let me just say up front, I have read every John Randolph Price book. I have given this one three stars for two reasons. One, I was left wanting more. And, two, it's not his best book.

As always, John Randolph Price delivers another great plan on how attract the one thing we all want more of. Personally, I like books that give me a plan to follow for a duration of time. (One of current favorites is 10-Day Money Makeover - Simple Steps to Create More Money and Financial Prosperity Using Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).)

I liked the combination of religious thought, new age thought and common sense coming together to help bring me to a new understanding of how to approach abundance. I think we often just think of money as being about numbers...money coming in and money going out. But it is about so much more. The best thing about this book is how it made me appreciate that it is about so much more and how money is my connection to Spirit. Look, Look!

This is a great book, even for newborns! It's hard to find things to interest such little ones, but this book does the trick. My little girl is now two months and she loves staring at the pages. This is a very interesting read about sabremetrics. Tom Tango who now works for the Seattle Mariners does a very good job in explaining these new stats. Book of a Thousand Days

Dashti is a mucker maid whose father died, then her brothers ran off, then her mother died. She has been taught the healing songs of her people by her mother, and their calming words help her through her journey to the city to look for work. She is taught to read, write and obey her mistresses every command. When she meets her new mistress, Lady Saren, she wonders at the Lady's wild and crazed ramblings, but she agrees to never leave her. Little does she know, Lady Saren has displeased her father by refusing to marry the man he has chosen for her. She literally trembles with fear when he is around. Her father has decided that her disobedience warrants being locked up. In a tower. For seven years.

That is a long time for anyone, but Dashti has agreed to never abandon her mistress. If it weren't for Dashti, I firmly believe that Lady Saren would have wasted away. You would think that nothing exciting would happen in a tower with no sunlight, but you'd be wrong. Their adventures with rats, cats, men who want to get in to harm them, one who wants the Lady for love, and Dashti's wanting to get out provide a reading you can hardly believe.

Lady Saren commands Dashti to do things she doesn't want to do, and it could end extremely badly for her if she doesn't figure a way out, but Saren is not capable of doing many things, and Dashti knows this, so she follows her orders, but by reading her journal we see her inner struggle throughout the book. In the end, it's her journal that saves her after she has already saved countless others.

Do they actually spend seven years in the tower, or does Dashti figure a way out? Well, the second half of the book is what happens when they get out of the tower. I admit, I should have seen some of the destruction coming, but even so, it makes for fascinating reading.

I have to say that Lady Saren drove me absolutely crazy for the majority of the book. I had to keep reminding myself that she wasn't raised to be able to do anything for herself, and by the end of the book I came to understand a lot more about her past that put her present actions into perspective. I ended up liking her a lot more, but Dashti steals the show in this book!

Book of the Dead (Kay Scarpetta)

To begin with, I have kept up with all the Kay Scarpetta books, having been intrigued with her from the beginning. After about the fifth book, I began to tire of the complicated and unsatisfying relationships she fosters, and to wonder how a character like this could maintain my interest. She couldn't. I kept reading, just because I feel like a know her a little bit, even though I began to hate her for being such a tiresome "Eeyore." Nothing ever seemed to bring her happiness or joy. She never laughed or chuckled, teased or flirted. Way too serious. I like Marino the best, the big, fat, coarse, boor that he is. He, at least, has some personality and passion. I've known people like Kay Scarpetta, and you can't be friends with them. They take themselves too seriously. They're the kind that stand to the side with their arms tucked around their midsections, protecting their guts, with a slight frown at the corners of their mouths. Cornwell keeps telling us how beautiful Kay is, but I'm not buying it anymore.Buy Book of the Dead (Kay Scarpetta)!

My Big Truck Book (My Big Board Books)

Great book deeply loved by toddlers and the very young child. Great pictures with simple one or two word explanation ie EMT ambulance. Each type of truck is on two facing pages ie freight trucks. The book from this vendor was not in as good condition as I was expecting. However, I will be using in my classroom library and is so loved, we will be using it up very

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5)

I liked this book a lot because of the DA and secret meetings. I also liked the dreams of the Department of Mysteries. I give it 4 stars, only because I am still reading Harry Potter #7 and don't know which one is better.Buy Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5)!

The BOOK OF VIRTUES

This book was recomended to me by a friend and colleague. As a high school English teacher, I am always on the hunt for supplemental materials to add to my lesson plans in order to help my students engage in more meaningful ways. I would highly recommend this book to other teachers, as it has wide a variety of stories, poems, etc that would be appropriate for all grade levels.
